Mark O' Mara, Bernard Walsh and Host Of Renown Trial Lawyers Hold Seminar At Lakewood Ranch, Florida
Bradenton, Florida (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- Manasota Trial Lawyers Board, founded by attorney Bernard F. Walsh of the Bradenton Injury law Firm Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh, organized the event featuring guest speaker defense attorney Mark O' Mara, known for his successful defense of George Zimmerman during one of 2013's most controversial trials.
Attorney Mark O' Mara gave a presentation entitled, ‘Social Media Investigations For Jury Selection.’ The lecture presented to the gathering focused on using social media to better understand potential jurors personal views and thus improve the process of jury selection. Jury selection is one of the single most important tools available to attorneys representing clients, both for plaintiff's and defendants.
During the lecture, Attorney Mark O' Mara explained how making assumptions of a potential juror's true personal views based upon their appearance and voir dire often results in a highly inaccurate idea of the potential jurors predispositions. The presentation explained how attorneys can get a much better idea of a potential jurors personal belief by reviewing their social media profiles. This is particularly important when so many potential jurors will attempt to provide inaccurate and extreme view simply to have themselves removed from jury selection.
In addition to Attorney Mark O' Mara, the event was attended by individuals from across the legal profession including Florida Justice Association Board of Directors Member Attorney Damian Mallard and State Attorney Ed Brodsky. Several law school students also attended including a group from Cooley Law School in Tampa and Stetson Law School in Gulf Port, Florida. Partners from Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh also in attendance included Bernard F. Walsh of Bradenton, David L. Goldman of Sarasota and Michael J. Babboni of Saint Petersburg.
Manasota Trial Lawyers Board Founder, Attorney Bernard Walsh shared this comment about the event, “This may have very well have been the most successful event yet held by the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board. We thank Mark O' Mara for his time and sharing his insight on this important subject. Among the challenges lawyers face in courtrooms today, include a general desire for potential jurors to avoid being selected and allowed to return to their busy lives – often by intentionally misleading attorneys as to their true beliefs. This can make achieving success for an attorneys' client more difficult. The techniques shared by Attorney O' Mara will be valuable for lawyers in many practice areas to better represent their clients by having a more accurate idea of jurors personal views. I am thrilled to see the value that the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board has been able to offer members and attendees. Our organization has grown and the audience for these events has become more diverse with Attorneys and legal professionals from many different areas of practice now participating. Past speakers have included personal injury attorneys, county judges and now we are honored to have a renown defense attorney share his experience with our legal community.”
Attendees of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board dinner and seminar also earned two Continuing Legal Education Credits or CLE credits. Obtaining CLE credits annually is required by many state Bar Associations including the Florida Bar Association to ensure Bar Members maintain a high standard of professional knowledge to better represent clients.
The event was held at the Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch Florida and was sponsored by several local and statewide businesses.
