AIC Launches High Availability Storage Server Platforms in 2U Form Factor

AIC’s new high availability storage server products, the HA201-TP and the HA201-WP, are optimized for mission-critical, enterprise-level storage applications. These cluster-in-a-box solutions support active-active failover and eliminates single points of failure.

"Our HA series products work as a cluster-in-a-box and bring to data center operators the elimination of single points of failure." said Charlie Fei, product manager of AIC.

The HA201-TP and the HA201-WP provide data centers and enterprises with a number of crucial benefits. The redundant hardware components ensure that there is no single points of failure. Because the controller canisters support hot-swap, they protect data centers and enterprises from the loss of revenue that can occur when access to mission-critical data or applications is disrupted.

In the event of failover, the secondary node will automatically take over the devices, client connections and all the processes and services running in the system.

AIC previously only offered the high availability storage server platforms in 4U which encompasses 24 3.5" drive bays. The 2Us support 24 2.5" drives or SSDs; they are designed to address the needs for faster access to data. “You have two controller canisters that are 2U in height, and they operate as separate nodes,” said AIC product manager Charlie Fei. “You also have two battery backup units, which protect the data in the cache.”

Fei added, “Our HA series products work as a cluster-in-a-box and bring to data center operators the elimination of single points of failure.”

The HA201-WP uses the Intel® Server Board S2600WP with Intel® C602 chipset; it supports QPI speed up to 8 GT/s. The HA201-TP uses the Intel® Server Board 2600TP with Intel® C612 chipset; it supports QPI speed up to 9.6 GT/s. The former comes with 6Gb/s SAS backplane; the latter 12Gb/s. These storage server platforms include the Intel® Trusted Platform Module header to provide support for Intel® Trusted Execution Technology.

With its active-active configuration, both nodes are processing I/Os, providing balanced access to the logical devices. This results in a significant increase in overall performance for the cluster. The robust, high availability solutions give data centers and enterprises round-the-clock availability, with the storage servers optimized for enterprise-level, mission-critical storage applications.
