Healthcare Privacy and Security Forum Featured at ISSA-LA Seventh Annual Information Security Summit on Cybercrime Solutions
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2015 -- The Third Annual Healthcare Privacy and Security Forum will be featured at Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA) Seventh Annual Information Security Summit on June 4 - 5, 2015, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The theme of the two-day summit, The Growing Cyber Threat: Protect Your Business, highlights the financial impact cybercrime has on all organizations: healthcare, businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and others. The summit advances ISSA-LA’s core belief that ‘It takes the village to secure the village’ SM.
The Healthcare Privacy and Security Forum on June 4 is part of the two-day Information Security Summit that brings together leaders and experts in information privacy and security within the government, nonprofits and private industry for collaboration, networking and presentations by accomplished and renowned professionals.
“The days of healthcare corporations and organizations questioning whether they are a target are long gone. Healthcare is becoming the hottest target for cyber criminals as costs of credit cards and IDs plummet and costs of healthcare records skyrocket,” said Richard Greenberg, ISSA Fellow, Los Angeles Board Member, and Summit Co-Chair. "No other single type of record contains as much personal and identifiable information as a health record. Besides vital information on the identity of an individual, it often has links to financial and insurance information that can be used in a multitude of different follow-up attacks and various types of fraud."
Megan Yelorda, Federal Investigator at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) will head up an impressive lineup of speakers, including representatives from the FBI and the LA County District Attorney Healthcare Fraud Division and Cyber Investigation Response Team. Sessions include: Guidance of the Process used in Breach Investigations and What Were the Vulnerabilities of Breached Companies? Thought provoking panels of experts include: Designing Privacy, Security, and Technology to Leverage Big Data in Healthcare and Best Practices for Strengthening Your Defenses.
“Forum attendees will walk away with a better understanding of the risks associated with protecting patient data, and most importantly be armed with defense strategies that they can take back for consideration at their companies and organizations” Greenberg added.
The Healthcare Privacy and Security Forum is recommended for any Privacy or Security professional, as well as Risk Management and Healthcare professionals. For more information about the Forum, visit: http://summit.issala.org/healthcare-privacy-and-security-forum.
