Bristol, UK (PRWEB UK) 28 March 2015 -- Fast Doctor (http://www.fastdr.com) is partnering with pharmacies all over the country to provide online medical consultations for a range of routine treatments. Customers then pick-up medicine from nearby pharmacies. The service is free for pharmacies, GP managed and CQC regulated.
There is a small prescription fee of £5, which customer pay online. They then pay for the medicine on collection at the pharmacy.
Pharmacies set their own prices of medicines. Prescriptions are processed usually within hours, including weekends.
The concept is not completely new. Some national pharmacies offer a similar service, but restricted to their own stores. This is the first low cost (£5) online doctor service where any pharmacy can register to participate.
Fast Doctor is convenient for people who like to use their local pharmacies. They may not be confident with mail-order, or just can’t be at home to sign-for packages; or cannot get an appointment with their GP quickly enough.
Medical conditions treated by Fast Doctor include popular high demand medicines, such as malaria tablets, contraception, period delay, Vaniqa cream; and treatments for erectile dysfunction, hair loss, chlamydia, hay fever, acne and rosacea, and many others.
Fast Doctor is run by Index Medical Ltd, which has issued over a quarter of million prescriptions online in the last 5 years, using simple and straightforward online consultations and a robust online prescribing and dispensing system.
There is quick online registration process for pharmacies, with no fees - ever! Each pharmacy has its own fastdr.com web pages and sets its own prices.
Pharmacies promote their new service to customers with flyers and posters, custom printed with pharmacy details, and delivered on request FREE.
Prescriptions are issued by GMC registered doctors based in Bristol. Only pharmacies registered with the GPhC can join the programme.
Email and SMS order updates for patients and pharmacies ensure the process is quick and simple, with the minimum of administration.
Pharmacies log-in to their account to print prescriptions, process orders, and manage store details, consultations offered, and medicine prices charged to patients.
Considerable price savings are possible for patients. If a medicine is prescribed instead of bought without a prescription, there is no VAT. However, most medicine from Fast Doctor is prescription only, with no option to buy without prescription.
