Ohio Pharmacy Counseling Services, Ltd. (OPCS) today announced that it has licensed ActualMeds’ cloud-based comprehensive medication management software for use by its national network of licensed consulting pharmacists. OPCS provides comprehensive medication review and targeted intervention programs as part of its Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services to healthcare plans and other third party suppliers of these services.
“In combination with our own innovative technology and best practices for medication therapy management, the ActualMeds software will give us the ability to integrate all of our activities on a single platform, saving significant time and helping us to standardize inputs and outputs in support of Medicare (CMS) requirements,” said Donald Orleck, RPh, CEO and founder of OPCS. “Together, we will be able to deliver the best and most cost-effective performance available in the market place to our customers.”
“We have been impressed with the amazing quality and performance metrics that OPCS has delivered to its customers on a consistent basis including comprehensive medication review completion rates and audit trails unparalleled in the industry,” said Patricia Meisner, CEO of ActualMeds. “Our software will only enhance these capabilities and help OPCS to increase its capacity to offer these services to a broader audience.”
CMS requires Medicare Advantage (MAPDs) and stand-alone prescription drug plans (PDPs) to offer MTM services to their highest-risk members. CMS continues to move in the direction of expanding targeted beneficiaries for MTM, as well as elevating certain MTM metrics to STARS pay for performance measures for these plans in the near future. (STARS is the Medicare evaluation program by which Medicare Advantage Plans are ranked and earn incentive payments for their performance against a set of quality process and outcomes measures.) OPCS and ActualMeds provide complete and innovative Medicare MTM services that will be extended to commercial and government programs for underserved and high-risk populations.
