Inland Waterways One-Day Summit on March 31 targets Barge Operators
(PRWEB) March 27, 2015 -- WorkBoat brings a one-day Regional Summit to New Orleans next week, built just for inland operators. The event, focused on keeping barge operators abreast of industry changes and trends, will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans on Tuesday, March 31. Registration is still open for the Summit, and industry professionals are invited to register before or on the day of the event.
WorkBoat helps produce the annual International WorkBoat Show, publishes its monthly magazine and produces reports and e-media products. Its Regional Summits are one-day conferences that address topics that affect a specific region and market sector, and allow for in-depth discussion and solution-driven discussions in a roundtable setting. WorkBoat will host three of these focused Summits in 2015, starting with the inland waterways event in New Orleans on March 31, the OSV Summit in Houston on April 2, and another in the fall of 2015 in Seattle.
After a networking breakfast, Michael Toohey, president and CEO, Waterways Council Inc., will kick off discussions with a keynote address on the inland waterway industry’s most top-of-mind issues, including WRRDA (the Water Resources Reform & Development Act of 2014), infrastructure and affordable energy. Toohey brings 30 years of experience and insight on these topics including 19 years at Ashland Inc. where he served as the principle representative to the federal government and also supervised state government relations for this Fortune 500 Corporation.
Other topics featured in the one-day Summit include, “Economic Outlook for Inland Waterways” and “Inland Towboat Design & Trends” and “Subchapter M, WRRDA, the Barge Tax, and Other Issues Facing Inland Operators.” Speakers confirmed for the Summit include: Brent Dibner, president, Dibner Maritime Associates; Kevin Gilheany, owner, Maritime Compliance International LLC; Austin Golding, Co-Owner of Golding Barge Line; Eric Livingston, vice president, GATX; Spencer Murphy, vice president of risk management, Canal Barge Company Inc.; Tommy Parfait, owner, Parfait Maritime Designs; and Joshua Sebastian, engineering manager, Shearer Group Inc.
Inland operators are invited to attend the 2015 WorkBoat Regional Summit: Future of the Inland Waterways up until the morning of the event. Advance tickets are $425, and can be reserved at http://www.workboat.com/professionalseries/18-regional-summit-louisiana.
