MOCAP is not a new technology, but Perception Neuron was designed to allow people to use the technology in new and unique ways.
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) March 27, 2015
Motion capture enthusiasts based in the US and Canada will now be able to order Perception Neuron, the world’s smallest, most adaptable, versatile and affordable motion capture system for virtual reality and visual effects. Traditionally used in movies to animate digital characters, motion capture is now opening its potential to the worlds of sports, science, education, medicine and entertainment thanks to the accessibility and versatility of Perception Neuron.
With the launch of its online portal, Perception Neuron hopes to create more than just an online store and support website. Its goal is to create a hub where new users of motion capture technology can discuss and share their ideas.
“MOCAP is not a new technology, but Perception Neuron was designed to allow people to use the technology in new and unique ways,” says Dr. Tristan Dai, Noitom’s Co-founder and CTO. “When we set out to make Perception Neuron, we envisioned a product that would be an affordable and adaptable tool that could be accessible to everyone and that would be easy to experiment with. Now we want to see our website, NeuronMocap.com, become the main hub where our users in the Perception Neuron community can come together to discuss their ideas and share with each other their vision.”
Neuronmocap.com is also being used to launch the pre-orders for the Perception Neuron system. Currently, only the all-inclusive configuration—the 32-Neuron Alum Edition—is available for purchase to the general public with a price of $1,499.
Two additional packages are also available exclusively for educational institutions and students, marking the company’s commitment to education, a core part of their philosophy. They are making available the 32-Neuron Alum Academic package for $1,199 and an18-Neuron Alum Academic package that does not include gloves for an even more affordable $799.
“We see Perception Neuron as a powerful yet affordable research tool,” says Roch Nakajima, Americas/Europe Marketing Director for Noitom. “Using motion data is a growing field that is just beginning to be explored. We are providing a flexible and adaptable way to allow developers, scientists, researchers and just about anyone to test what data they need or can use to validate their proof of concept.”
Currently, shipping is only available for the US and Canada, however, additional countries will be added in the near future. Anyone who visits NeuronMocap.com will be able to pre-order the Perception Neuron system which will begin shipping in May/June 2015.
