Supreme Group Wins International Safety Award
London, UK (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- Supreme Group (Supreme) has won an International Safety Award with merit from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2014 calendar year.
Now in their 57th year, the International Safety Awards seek to celebrate and promote the success of the winning organizations and their employees in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all. They are open to businesses, public and third sector bodies of all sizes and sectors. The 2015 award winners have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health.
Supreme Group’s QHSE Operations Manager, Antony Cotton, expressed his delight at receiving the award. “I am thrilled to receive once again the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award. This year we received a merit after answering a number of testing questions set by the British Safety Council. This award clearly demonstrates our commitment to managing Health and Safety in an appropriate and effective manner and the criteria set by the British Safety Council although challenging, shows the importance of ensuring the risk of injury and ill health in the workplace are properly controlled. The award will show future and prospective customers that we take Health and Safety throughout the company seriously and it is managed equally alongside other activities and functions.”
More than 500 organizations won an International Safety Award for 2015, and the winning organizations span all sectors and range from the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the West Indies.
Neal Stone, acting Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Supreme Group on its success. “On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate Supreme Group and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award with merit for 2015. All of those working at Supreme Group have made this award possible, which recognizes their commitment to preventing injury and ill health in the workplace.
“It was also apparent that these winning organizations overall recognize the value that proportionate and sensible management of occupational health and safety risks brings to the organization, its people and society.
“The International Labor Organization estimates that every year over 2.3 million people globally are senselessly killed due to workplace injury and work-related ill health and an estimated 4% of global GDP is lost due to health and safety failure. Awards have an important role to play in shining a light on those employers who are taking sensible and effective steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their workers, celebrating their efforts and encouraging other businesses everywhere.
“The International Safety Awards rightly reflects the importance of aiming for good standards of health and safety at work. Supreme Group should rightly be proud of its achievement. Our congratulations.” Stone concluded.

About the International Safety Awards
The International Safety Awards is an annual scheme designed to recognize and reward good health and safety management by organizations of all sizes and sectors around the world during the previous calendar year.
Organizations answer a series of online questions about their management of occupational health and safety risks at a specific site or business unit which are marked by independent adjudicators. If the application meets the required standard, a pass, merit or – for really exceptional submissions – a distinction is awarded.
