The World’s Greatest Gag Gift Since Hot Pepper Gum Launches Kickstarter Campaign
Durham, NC (PRWEB) April 02, 2015 -- Every so often, genius happens. The whoopee cushion. The joy buzzer. Hot pepper gum. And now – WTF Candles. Destined to become a perennial practical joke, the candles look exactly like high-quality artisan candles, and even smell just like their packaging says – apple pie, fresh forest pine and other sweet scents. But within an hour or so of lighting, the candles’ true nature is aromatically revealed – “Dirty Diaper,” “Sweaty Gym Socks,” “Skunk Ass” or other nauseating stenches fill the room. It’s perfectly elegant and hilarious in its design. WTF Candles will even anonymously send the candle to the unsuspecting sucker/loved one free of charge. WTF Candles (http://www.prankcandles.com), a small startup company based in North Carolina, has launched a Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/852715728/wtf-prank-candles) in an effort to raise needed funds.
“We barely got off the ground and are already inundated with buzz,” said WTF Candles founder Tyler Ward. “Once it got posted on some gift and novelty sites, it really took off. We’ve gotten orders & other inquiry from hundreds of individuals, but best of all we have some potentially huge corporate orders in the works, to use as gag gifts for their retreats and meetings.”
Tyler Ward, 27, already runs a successful company called Giddy, which he launched with several friends while still in college. The company creates a unique hand balm for rock climbers and has received rave reviews from international climbing magazines. There’s a natural crossover between skin care companies and candle companies because they are both based on similar ingredients like oils, wax and fragrances. At a trade convention, Tyler met a candle manufacturer who claimed he could make any scent possible, so one night in the bar he dared the guy to make a fart smell. And a genius idea was born…
WTF Candles are available for $12, which includes free gift shipping to anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. However, Kickstarter backers can receive a $12 candle plus mailing, for only a $10 contribution.
