Concept Searching Survey Results Show How and Why Organizations are Using Office 365, SharePoint Online, and Exchange
McLean, VA, US and Stevenage, UK (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- Concept Searching, the global leader in semantic metadata generation, auto-classification, and taxonomy management software, and developer of the Smart Content Framework™, is compiling the statistics from its 2015 SharePoint and Office 365 Metadata survey, currently unpublished. In its third year, the survey shows the ranking of some organizational priorities to be almost stagnant and others elevated, to be addressed now or in the immediate future. Responses on the use of Microsoft cloud options are varied, but the primary use is Microsoft Exchange Online.
According to Concept Searching’s 2014 survey, Office 365 had been deployed by 34% of participating organizations, approximately 21% had plans to deploy Office 365 at some point in the future, and 30% said they had no plans to deploy. The 2015 survey delves deeper into the current and future plans of organizations on how they are or will be using Microsoft products. The survey results indicate that 31% are currently using SharePoint Online, 32% plan to use it, and 38% will not be using it. However, it does appears that Exchange is driving organizations to the cloud – 77% are currently using Exchange, 13% plan to deploy it, and 10% will not be deploying.
The adoption and use of Exchange is not surprising. Even if an organization is not global, current workforce trends include end users located in diverse locations with a need to communicate daily. Exchange can provide an email, calendar, and contacts solution delivered as a cloud service, hosted by Microsoft. Exchange Online provides end users with a familiar email experience across PCs, the web and mobile devices, while giving IT administrators, small businesses, and IT professionals web-based tools for managing their online deployments. A key factor in adoption is the ability to choose to combine on-premises and cloud or Office 365 options in a hybrid deployment.
“The results of the survey are not too unexpected. The use of cloud solutions does generate value and benefits to clients, particularly the use of Microsoft Exchange Online,” said Martin Garland, President of Concept Searching. “By combining on-premises and cloud or Office 365 options, organizations can achieve the best of both worlds. Business users, regardless of location, can communicate using traditional tools they are accustomed to.”
