Stephanie Chong Joins Lifematters as Director of Community Outreach & Education
(PRWEB) April 02, 2015 -- Lifematters is pleased to announce that Stephanie Chong, a licensed Social Worker and a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager, has joined the organization as Director of Community Outreach & Education. In her new role, Chong will provide continuing education courses to industry professionals and informational programs to the community at large. Chong is also spearheading the Lifematters Employer Benefits Program to bring awareness to area companies whose employees are often spending as much time caring for their aging parents as they are for their children, and who could benefit from learning about options that could help them deal with these situations as well as receive support in their approach to it. In addition to helping our community and industry partners, Chong will also enhance the levels of training for Lifematters employees.
Prior to joining Lifematters, Stephanie was the director of a nonprofit Geriatric Care Management program, and in addition to working in multiple levels of care in senior living, she has had the unique experience of starting up a new assisted living and dementia care neighborhood. She has worked as a hospital discharge planner and, prior to becoming a social worker, was a Certified Home Health Aide. Trained to facilitate Alzheimer’s support groups, Chong will also offer support groups in the DC Metro area. She brings a strong passion for improving the aging experience, which is evident through her commitment to sharing her knowledge with broader audiences.
“We are delighted to have Stephanie join the Lifematters family,” said Scott Thompson, Lifematters Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Her experience, capabilities, and enthusiasm for our industry and the people for whom we provide services makes for an outstanding addition to our company. We are excited, as well, about the community outreach, education and training that Stephanie can provide to those who will benefit from it.”
A former board member for GROWS (Grass Roots Organization for the Wellbeing of Seniors), Chong volunteers for the Arlington Neighborhood Village and is on the Health and Wellness Committee for the Dupont Circle Village. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Stockton University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University. She and her family live in Northern Virginia.
