Mendota Community Hospital Now OSF Saint Paul Medical Center
Peoria, Ill. (PRWEB) April 01, 2015 -- OSF Saint Paul Medical Center, the newest member of the OSF Healthcare System, was welcomed into the Ministry April 1, 2015, with a Blessing and Dedication Ceremony officiated by Msgr. Paul E. Showalter, vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.
The Blessing and Dedication culminated a nearly year-long transition process for the former Mendota Community Hospital, now the eleventh OSF HealthCare hospital. Speakers for the morning ceremony included Sister Judith Ann Duvall, O.S.F., Chairperson, OSF Healthcare System; Kevin Schoeplein, OSF Healthcare System CEO; Margo Gallagher Schmitz, President, Mendota Community Hospital Board of Directors; and Gerald McShane, MD, President and CEO, OSF Medical Group.
“OSF HealthCare is committed to improving the health of our communities,” said Schoeplein in his welcoming remarks. “We do that by connecting with each one of you right here in this community so that together we can better understand your health care needs. The caregivers you already know will continue to provide compassionate and quality health care to all the residents of this community, but will now have all the technology and specialists of OSF HealthCare behind them. We believe by coming together we can achieve extraordinary results.”
Schoeplein also introduced Jennifer Junis as the new President of OSF Saint Paul Medical Center. Junis succeeds Judy Christiansen, who served as Interim President of Mendota Community Hospital during the transition.
Since 2007, Junis has served as Chief Nursing Officer for OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee. She started her health care career in 1996 as a Registered Nurse at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, Ill.
As President of OSF Saint Paul, Junis will provide organizational leadership to assure the hospital and outpatient services are operated with clinical excellence, while developing and implementing strategies that provide high quality and cost-effective health care. OSF Saint Paul will be part of the I-80 Region of OSF HealthCare. The regional approach allows for the focus to be on the health status of the area populations served by providing coordinated care that works with other community partners to keep people well.
“My desire has always been to lead a Mission-centered organization that is driven by excellence in quality health care with a team of high-performing leaders who have a deep commitment to patients,” said Junis. “I am very thankful now to have that opportunity at OSF Saint Paul Medical Center and look forward to serving Mendota and the surrounding communities.”
