Columbia Southern University Alumni Receive Special Honors from DEAC
Orange Beach, AL (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- Columbia Southern University (CSU) is proud to announce graduates Tracy Barnes and Craig D’Souza as members of the 2015 Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) Famous Alumni and Outstanding Graduate program, respectively.
The DEAC conducts an Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni program each year. Each DEAC-accredited educational institution is invited to submit one outstanding graduate (who must have graduated during the last five years) and one famous alumnus (from any graduating class) for the 2015 program. This year marks the 32nd consecutive year DEAC has offered this program.
Outstanding Graduate D’Souza, who graduated summa cum laude in 2012 from CSU, resides in Canada and works as the senior director of Corporate Investigations at AFIMAC. His decision to continue his education and earn his MBA with CSU was based on the university’s flexible online format and enrollment options.
He is a member of the DET Honor Society, president of the DECA Ontario Chapter, a student ambassador for the Student Leaders at McGivney and a volunteer for several causes.
Barnes, who graduated from CSU in 2014 with a degree in marketing, is a former Olympic athlete. She competed in the biathlon for 16 years. She entered the 2002 World Junior Olympics, where she earned the silver medal, and the 2006 Winter Olympics. While she did qualify for the 2014 Olympics, she earned the 2014 United Nations International Fair Play Award for giving up her spot to her twin sister, who was unable to qualify due to sickness.
Currently, Barnes runs her own company, T.O.P. Shooting Institute. The institute teaches and enforces an elite level of training to military, law enforcement, competitive shooters and hunters the critical skills of performing under stress.
There will be a special presentation of the awards to Barnes and D’Souza at the DEAC Conference April 19-21 in Chicago. In addition, the CSU Student and Alumni will have a reception on April 20 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago to honor Barnes and D’Souza. CSU President Robert Mayes is scheduled to attend.
