Sandeep Makam of Chrysler Wins SAE International-Supported New Faces of Engineering Award
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) April 02, 2015 -- Sandeep Makam, 28, Technical Specialist at Chrysler Group LLC, is the winner of the New Faces of Engineering Award, which is supported by SAE International through its partnership with DiscoverE.
The New Faces of Engineering program promotes the accomplishments of young engineers (age 30 or younger) by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society. SAE International reviewed all nominations for the award before submitting three finalists, including Makam, to DiscoverE.
Makam leads a team of Chrysler engineers working to improve vehicle fuel economy, performance, durability and reliability, all essential to help the company meet federal mandates for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions. He is a recipient of the 2012 and 2013 Chrysler Innovation Awards. His expertise in transmission and driveline systems is known company-wide and he is often sought after to contribute to high profile projects. He teaches a class on Reliability Statistics to Chrysler Engineers, has authored five peer-reviewed publications, and has a patent pending.

• Dr. Sneha Swaminathan, 30, Chemical Engineer, Hollingsworth and Vose Company
