Axis Construction Wins 2015 Honorable Mention Award at Modular Building Institute's Awards of Distinction
Hauppauge, New York (PRWEB) April 03, 2015 -- The Modular Building Institute's prestigious Honorable Mention Award was given to Axis Construction Corp. for the design and construction of the Queens Hospital Center – Employee Health Services and Human Resources building in Jamaica, New York. Axis was recognized at MBI’s Awards of Distinction Banquet held at the 32nd Annual World of Modular Convention & Tradeshow on March 13-16 in Las Vegas, NV. Attended by more than 700 modular industry professionals from 24 countries, this tradeshow is the commercial modular industry’s leading event.
The award-winning modular building is strategically located at the center of NYC’s Health and Hospital Corporation’s Queens campus. The placement of the building provides direct access to the main street, parking lots and surrounding campus, and the central location kept site disruption to a minimum during construction. The building’s design and construction blend state-of-the-art architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing features while maintaining strict adherence to budget requirements, which was critical to the success of the project.
The new construction highlights a storefront entry system allowing natural light to fill the entryway, factory applied thin-brick exterior with full parapet, ceramic tiled toilet rooms and clean, smooth interior finishes for the offices and clinic spaces. The building was designed using high-efficiency, energy saving interior light fixtures with occupancy sensor controls in all rooms, environmentally-safe paints, high-efficiency natural gas HVAC units, and reflective white durable roofing. This facility meets stringent New York City building codes and Department of Health regulations.
“Axis is thrilled to have received this prestigious award from the Modular Building Institute,” said Axis President and CEO Ralph Lambert. “We take great pride in our focus on superior quality and innovation, and are very pleased that our work has been recognized as among the best in modular design and construction.”
The MBI Awards of Distinction is the foremost awards program for the commercial modular industry. An impartial panel of industry and non-industry construction and code experts, architects, engineers, and marketing professionals evaluate each entry based on architectural excellence, technical innovation, sustainability, cost effectiveness, energy efficiency, and calendar days to complete.
“MBI and the Awards of Distinction judges are proud to recognize Axis Construction Corp’s permanent modular healthcare solution in Queens, New York as the Honorable Mention for our Permanent Healthcare category,” said Tom Hardiman, Executive Director of the Modular Building Institute. “I’d like to offer my congratulations to the Axis team, their affiliate, NRB, Inc., and all of the 2015 Awards of Distinction winners. We had a number of projects with incredible innovation entered this year and we look forward to continuing to promote great projects by our membership.”
