Prime, Inc. Invites Drivers and Carriers To Compete for the “Fittest Trucker In America” Title
SPRINGFIELD, MO (PRWEB) April 01, 2015 -- North America’s premier refrigerated, flatbed and tanker trucking company Prime, Inc. announced at the Mid America Trucking Show (MATS) that they will host its third annual Fittest of the Fleet competition on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Prime headquarters in Springfield, MO.
The annual fitness competition was created by Siphiwe Baleka, Prime’s Driver Health and Fitness Coach, to showcase drivers who have made fitness a daily part of their truck driving career. Baleka, who conducted a MATS seminar on “The Future of Driver Health and Fitness,” issued a personal invitation and challenge to other fleets to send their most fit male and female truck drivers to this year’s competition.
“There is an obesity epidemic leading to premature death in the trucking industry and as a consequence, helping drivers lose weight has grown in popularity,” says Baleka. “There are weight loss competitions for drivers, but nothing to showcase those drivers who are managing to maintain very high levels of fitness while living on the road. This competition is designed to identify who is the fittest truck driver in America.”
Rodney McCloud and Justin Boschee, the winner and third place finisher of the 2013 Fittest of the Fleet competition, were featured in the April 2014 issue of Men’s Health Magazine. In 2014, Peterbilt sponsored the competition and put up prize money, which was claimed by twenty-seven year old Randee Lewis. In 2015, the goal is to make it a truly “national” competition.
“We are reserving 30 competition slots for drivers from other fleets across America. We can do a lot to promote both driver image and fitness by exhibiting those truck drivers who are in peak physical condition,” says Baleka. “What fleet wouldn’t be proud to boast it has the fittest truck driver in America?”
