Lumense’s first water monitoring product provides continuous real-time monitoring of water resources and will launch later this year.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 02, 2015
Lumense, an Atlanta-based developer of real-time sensors capable of continuously measuring the concentration of trace chemicals and biologicals in gases and liquids, announced today that it was named runner-up in the Imagine H2O (IH2O) Business Innovations Competition.
As part of its recognition, Lumense will participate in IH2O’s Accelerator Program, which links startups to growth opportunities through access to IH2O’s global network of reference customers, water industry partners, investors, and mentors. Built on the Lumense SensorIT Platform, Lumense’s first water monitoring product provides continuous real-time monitoring of water resources and will launch later this year.
“Lumense is honored to be selected as a runner-up by Imagine H2O and the industry leaders who served as judges of the Water Infrastructure Challenge. Our participation in this competition and the Accelerator Program has helped, and will continue to help us improve our in-line contaminant monitors and the SensorIT technology platform as we move them out to test sites later this year,” said Mike Slawson, Lumense’s Chief Executive Officer.
Imagine H2O's judging panel, which included leading industry experts from venture capital firms, water utilities, and engineering businesses, based its selection of twelve finalists on their market viability, value proposition, and go-to-market strategy. The global competition attracted entrants from 20 countries, including the United States.

Lumense offers real-time, in situ, chemical and biological sensors for use in a broad range of applications, including those in the water, food and beverage, and agriculture sectors. Lumense developed SensorIT, a common, scalable sensor platform augmented with low cost optical detectors customized for specific targets, allowing customers to move from a reactive to a proactive approach to contaminant management and recipe control. The SensorIT platform continuously detects trace amounts of targeted substances, many of which previously could only be detected and quantified with expensive laboratory equipment after sampling. An ammonia monitor for air monitoring in poultry houses is the first product to be released under Lumense’s SensorIT technology platform. As part of the platform, customers will be able to view and manage their sensor data remotely and securely. Products under development include a sensor for detecting trace levels of impurities in gases used by the food and beverage industry, and a sensor for monitoring water quality.
