Reportory Exits Beta Development, Providing a-la-carte Customized News Digests

Reportory announces completion of beta development of its platform that delivers customized news digests to readers via email each morning based on a proprietary multi-variate content aggregation algorithm. Reportory launched in private beta in September 2014 and moved to open beta in November.

During beta development the company focused on refining its content algorithm and adding key product features including readers being able to like and dislike certain articles to refine their digests over time and insert their own custom keywords to match articles against.

So much of today's news is packaged into increasingly expensive and wasteful products that do not help consumers stay well informed about the causes they care about. As a result of this pain point, in 2013, magazine single-copy sales fell 11% according to the Alliance for Audited Media, the worst decline since 2009. Moreover, newspaper circulation has fallen on average 6% every year for the past 10 years, according to The Pew Research Center.

As traditional print news readers unsubscribe, there are two less-than-ideal alternatives for them - either they have to manually go to multiple news websites to actively find their news (many of which have paywalls), or they can try one of the many mobile news aggregators available that offer a more casual browsing mode for readers with limited customization options.

Reportory provides the ideal news reading experience for former print readers. Readers select which news sources they enjoy, topical sections they are interested in, and keywords they want to track. Each day customized news digests are delivered to their inbox based on those selections, no two digests are alike.

Currently readers can customize their news with content from CNN, Forbes, Bloomberg, Dow Jones, AP and Reuters. Additional agreements are in the works and will be announced at a later date.
