Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) April 07, 2015
Sorrel Sky Gallery of Santa Fe is pleased to announce a very special event with Beau L’Amour, the son of legendary Western writer Louis L’Amour. Beau will speak and sign copies of his graphic novel “Law of the Desert Born” from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Sorrel Sky is located at 125 W. Palace Ave.
The book, which Beau co-wrote with his friend Katherine Nolan, is a re-imagining of a Louis L’Amour short story from 1946 about double-crossing gunfighters and bad blood in the Old West. The story was one of the first Westerns Louis wrote after coming home from World War II and Beau has dusted it off with a beautiful hardbound edition brought to life on the pages with striking illustrations by Thomas Yeates, We are especially proud to host Beau for this event at our Santa Fe location, as the story is set in New Mexico in the 1880s and Yeates’ images celebrate the vast landscape that has inspired so many other artists.
As the son of such a luminary as Louis L’Amour, Beau learned the art of storytelling before he could walk. The family still owns a ranch near Durango, Colorado and Beau came to appreciate the splendor of the American West at an early age as well. He branched out from the literary world of his father into all aspects of the entertainment industry, working in radio, magazines, television and film as an artist, writer and director. His collaborators on “Law of the Desert Born” travel in the same circles, and the book’s dramatic storytelling style is a reflection of their filmmaking influences.
Beau L’Amour is an engaging and dynamic speaker and this should be an entertaining and informative evening for fans of the classic Western.
