Cornwall Bridge, CT (PRWEB) April 06, 2015 -- Matthews 1812 House announces that Cynthia Matthews von Berg has assumed the role of President. Founders Deanna and Blaine Matthews, who started the baked goods company in the family farmhouse in 1979, will be retiring.
Cynthia Matthews von Berg is the daughter of Deanna and Blaine Matthews. She is a graduate of Yale University and Pratt Institute. After beginning her career in the catalog industry, she has spent the last 10 years in the toy industry, most recently as Creative Director of Mudpuppy. Ms. Matthews von Berg will be relocating to Connecticut with her husband and infant daughter to continue the business in its current location in Cornwall Bridge.
Deanna Matthews started the company in 1979 when her daughters were small. "We started this business because we wanted to be home with our children and engage with them on a daily basis," says Mrs. Matthews. "We are happy to see our daughter and granddaughter continue that tradition."
