Baker Motor Company’s Charleston Fashion Week® Serves as Launching Pad for National Jewelry Design Competition
Charleston, S.C. (PRWEB) April 07, 2015 -- Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week® 2015 recently served as the venue for announcing a national jewelry design competition hosted by Jewelry Television® (JTV), one of the country’s largest retailers of fine jewelry and gemstones. JTV is on the hunt to discover creative designers in the jewelry category and the winner will have an opportunity to design a collection, which will debut on national television. JTV’s ‘Rock Star Designer’ competition is open to the public and the open call for entries runs now through April 30, 2015 at JTV.com/RockStar.
“As a media sponsor for Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week for the second consecutive year, we were inspired to create our own national jewelry design competition,” said Jill Johnson, vp of marketing at JTV. “Charleston is quickly becoming recognized as a hub for emerging designers so we were excited to introduce our own competition here.”
“JTV is a powerhouse jewelry retailer and we’re fortunate to have them represented at Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week each year,” said Jed Drew, an owner of Charleston Magazine and Charleston Fashion Week®. “This national competition is further testament to the South’s role in leading design trends and identifying top talent in the field.”
To participate, entrants must include pictures of their crafted designs, a headshot and a video message detailing why they deserve to win the first ‘Rock Star Designer’ competition. The winner will receive:
- $5,000 cash prize
- One-on-one mentoring with JTV’s international buyers
- A segment on JTV, featuring their jewelry collection
- Exposure to 85 million households through the JTV broadcast network and web series
- Introductions to industry insiders and manufacturers
Of the entrants, the field will be narrowed to no more than 100 jewelry designers selected by the judges’ industry expert panel. This round of finalists’ designs will be posted online for the public to view and vote on their favorites. The field will then be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists and the panel of judges will select the final five to receive an all-expense paid trip to the JTV headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee and compete in a reality show style competition.
During their Knoxville stay, designers will be filmed as they work their way through four unique design challenges. Each challenge eliminates a contestant until there is only one finalist standing. The episodes will be aired on JTV.com/RockStar and promoted on JTV’s national broadcast network.
Entrants must be at least 21 years old and be available for the challenge filming dates. For a complete list of rules and details, visit JTV.com/RockStar. Learn more about JTV at http://www.jtv.com.
