Academic Leaders From Helix Education Selected to Present on Emerging Learning Models at OLC
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) April 07, 2015 -- Helix Education, a world class provider of student life cycle technologies and services, has been invited to lead two sessions at OLC's Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium, which kicks off April 22nd in Dallas. Based on years of working inside the walls of academia and supporting students, Helix Education's team will share experiences and knowledge on Personalized Learning, Adaptive Learning and Competency-Based Education (CBE).
"We are excited to help increase the visibility of these emerging education models and instructional strategies, but more importantly, to also help educators thoroughly think through how each approach works and the kinds of processes and changes that are necessary," said Kari Kovar, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Helix Education. "Our team will explore the importance of data to shape individualized learning experiences under each approach, and assist educators in navigating the methods and models that are most applicable to their EdTech goals."
Helix Education's first session, "Defining and Differentiating Personalized Learning, Adaptive Learning and Competency-Based Education" will explore emerging instructional methods and models. Presenters will discuss the ways that students interact with content and achieve mastery under each approach, and the role of data and targeted assessments. Helix Education's Cherron Hoppes, Ed.D, who hails from Golden Gate University and has also served as an adjunct faculty member, is teaming up with Amy Hale, who previously served as Undergraduate Director of Instructional Technology and Teaching Excellence at Golden Gate University, to present on April 23rd at 9:40 a.m.
Following on April 24th at 10:40 a.m., two of Helix Education's executives are presenting "Competency-Based Education: From Vision to Reality." Hoppes will join Steve Pappageorge, who served as dean of DeVry's College of Continuing Education, New Programs, and Outreach, to share their insight on the development of CBE initiatives. They will lead attendees through a CBE readiness assessment, discussing the reality of implementation and the consideration of leadership roles, programs, financial aid, service models, policies, technology, and accreditation.
Helix Education is a National Platinum sponsor of the OLC event, which will bring together more than 700 onsite and 1,000 virtual faculty, administrators, instructional technologists, and instructional designers to collaborate on technologies that drive online learning effectiveness. Attendees are invited to visit with the Helix Education team in booth #301.
