CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, announces its upcoming Live and On Demand activity: Coordinating Care Between Dermatologists and Rheumatologists to Improve Outcomes in Patients with Psoriatic Arthritis. The live program will launch on Friday, May 1st at 12:00pm ET. Faculty experts April W. Armstrong, MD, MPH, and Joel M. Gelfand, MD, MSCE will lead an interactive one-hour discussion that will challenge clinicians to improve outcomes in their patients with psoriatic arthritis through live discussion that will help practicing clinicians recognize the early signs of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and implement screening techniques, discuss recommendations for the treatment of moderate-to-severe PsA, and advise on when and how to collaborate with rheumatologists in the management of moderate-to-severe PsA. Dermatologists, rheumatologists, internists, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care providers that manage or counsel patients with psoriatic arthritis are encouraged to register.

CMEO’s Live and On Demand format is an online and mobile 90-minute, live, panel discussion that offers cutting-edge insights from national experts in psoriatic arthritis. This live interactive broadcast is a key differentiator and unique to CMEO online activities. Clinicians will have the opportunity to engage in real time with faculty and with peers through Q&A and Twitter. Included in the 90-minute activity is a special 30-minute Q&A segment designed to provide learners time to ask additional questions, interact with the experts, and share challenges via phone, by using the Q&A widget on the web interface, email, or Twitter.

“This activity is unique in that we are really looking to create a robust collaboration of care between dermatologists and rheumatologists, in alignment with the National Quality Strategy, in order truly improve the lives of patients living with psoriatic arthritis,” said Jan Perez, CCMEP, CMEO Managing Partner, “We hope that as a result of this education, we see a positive improvement in dermatologist to rheumatologist care coordination, and ultimately, improved patient satisfaction.”

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  •     Implement screening guidelines to ensure 75% of patients with psoriasis are screened for psoriatic arthritis in the next three months.
  •     Apply professional treatment guidelines in more than 50% of patients with psoriatic arthritis in the next three months.
