Every company that employs background investigations and pre-employment screening practices must comply with numerous laws, the violation of which could result in heavy fines. These laws continue to evolve and in November, 2014 the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) partnered together to release new guidance for applicants and employees on their rights during a background investigation. The Background Investigation Compliance Program addresses these new guidelines ensuring compliance and aiding companies in avoiding hefty fines and penalties.
