Angelo Mandato, CIO of RawVoice, says One Click Subscribe on Android is a game changer

Blubrry, a leader in the podcast industry, today launched it's One Click Subscribe on Android protocol at the National Association of Broadcaster Show’ in Las Vegas, April 11-16.
“Subscribing to a podcast via Android has never been an optimal user experience,” said Todd Cochrane, CEO of RawVoice, the parent company of Blubrry. Now Android listeners only have to one click to subscribe to a podcast just as iOS users have been able to for years, he said.
“We realize that Android podcast application developers want a simple solution,” Cochrane said. “To that end we have included a Web page for developers that explains the changes needed to Android podcast applications to support ‘One Click’.”
Launch partner Podcast Addict developer Xavier Guillemane enlisted the application and notes, “Implementing this took me less than 5 minutes with your developer instructions page.” The Podcast Addict application is the first of many Android Podcast apps to implement the new protocol.
Blubrry also updated its flagship PowerPress Podcast Plugin for WordPress to allow 40,000+ podcasters to support “One Click Subscribe on Android” protocol, Cochrane said. The planned Blubrry Podcast Directory expansion will be available to all of the 240,000+ Podcast listings that will be accessible on the site after NAB.
In addition, podcasters not using the PowerPress plugin can get a subscribe embed widget for their site by visiting SubscribeOnAndroid.com and entering their primary podcast feed url.
Podcasters needing more information on how One Click works should read the following blog post.
“Android podcast listener adoption has been outpaced by iOS and iTunes for many years and this is our first step in conjunction with our app partners to close the gap,” Cochrane said. “Our wish is that all Android apps revise and support the new One Click Subscribe on Android protocol.”
