FEI Behavioral Health, a social enterprise with a 35-year history and leader in workforce resilience from crisis management to EAP, will present sessions at two upcoming conferences – the American Association of Children’s Residential Centers (AACRC) 2015 Annual Conference and the National At-Risk Education Network (NAREN) 2015 Annual Conference.
The AACRC 2015 Annual Conference runs April 13-17 in Savannah, Georgia. FEI’s Senior Director Terri Howard will present an informative poster session, “Incorporating Trauma Informed Services into Workplace Violence Prevention Training,” on April 16, 12:30 p.m. EST. The presentation outlines an overall strategy to service individuals displaying behavior that poses a threat of harm to themselves or others. It incorporates the use of behavioral intervention designed to teach individuals how to manage their own behavior. In addition to the presentation, FEI also is exhibiting.
The NAREN 2015 Annual Conference runs April 22-24 in Baltimore, Maryland. Howard also will present an engaging presentation, “Supporting Individuals with Complex Behaviors through Trauma Informed Care,” on April 22, 10:30 a.m. EST. This session provides teachers, counselors and school administrators with the necessary tools to support individuals with complex behaviors by demonstrating an awareness of the impact of trauma on human neurodevelopment. The session will describe principles of trauma, neurodevelopmental processes, and positive behavior support to aid at-risk individuals.
Howard is responsible for working with FEI corporate clients to ensure they are prepared for, can respond to and recover from a crisis incident. She also coordinates the people support and psychological first aid services for those impacted by crises, and she is responsible for developing drills and exercises aimed at testing current plans and procedures. Over the years, Howard has contributed to several international standards and guidelines on crisis management and workplace violence prevention, including ASIS, a global community of more than 38,000 security practitioners, and the FBI.
