In response to traveler demand TCTS is organizing tours that cover ground in some of Tibet’s farthest reaches. The 17 Day Everest + Kailash Tour is one of the latest additions and helps travelers discover some of Tibet’s most famous cultural and historical sites. TCTS shares the details on what travelers can expect.

In Lhasa, travelers will have a few days to adjust to the altitude as they enjoy an introduction to Tibet while visiting beautiful and fascinating places such as Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. Be sure to take advantage of the tour’s free time to do some exploring and shopping in the crowded alleyways of Barkhor Bazaar. Next the tour heads for Shigatse via Gyantse. Travelers will visit to Pelkhor Moanstery, Kumbum Pagoda, and Tashilhunpo Monastery.

The excitement of the tour of Tibet builds as travelers spend the night in Shegar before heading to Everest. Groups will arrive at Everest in the afternoon and with some luck will be able to get sunset pictures! The best chances come early in the morning, the tour overnights in one of the campsites near Everest’s base. After a couple days of driving the tour reaches Manasarovar then after a day of rest heads for the holy Mt. Kailash, pilgrimage site for followers of the Hindu, Tibetan Buddhist, Jain, and Bon religions.

The tour ends in Kathmandu a couple days after visiting Kailash. While travelling in Tibet groups will have visited some of its most famous attractions and learned a great deal about its culture and history. Throughout the journey, TCTS takes care of details such as travel permits, native Tibetan guides, and private transportation with safe drivers who know the roads well. Stay tuned for more about TCTS’s new tours for 2015!
