Mobile Commerce Q1 Revenue Jumps 145% Across Broad Retailer Index
Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 17, 2015 -- Unbound Commerce counts 400+ retailers as clients and delivers dedicated, custom designed mobile commerce sites. Across a broad same-store index of over 350 mobile commerce sites, year-over-year aggregate mobile commerce revenue increased 144.75%, in Q1 2015, over the same quarterly period in 2014.
This is the largest single quarterly increase reported for the Unbound Commerce retailer index to date, and shows that mobile commerce revenue growth is continuing to accelerate, as smartphone adoption increases, consumer confidence grows, and friction in the mobile path to purchase is reduced.
The average mobile order size was up 18.81% and bounce rates continued to trend modestly lower (down 2.10% compared to Q1 2014).
Conversion rates grew a healthy 25.86%, which can be largely attributed to mobile site enhancements and friction-reducing best practices built into the custom designs. Rockport, for example, recently redesigned their mobile commerce site and saw a 350% lift in revenue during this past Holiday season.
The aggregate number of mobile commerce pageviews rendered across the retailer index jumped 71.56% for the quarter, as compared to 2014 and mobile sessions increased 67.12%, a figure that is less than half the revenue increase.
The disparity between mobile commerce revenue growth (145%) and the increase in mobile sessions (67%) points to a growing, returning customer base buying more on mobile than ever before, as their comfort level rises.
Interestingly, the number of unique users for the quarter jumped 39.77%, indicating an increasing level of usage by shoppers returning to the mobile commerce site repeatedly.
