We’re in a unique situation in the A/EC industry in which there are 4 different generations in the workforce. Communication in the workplace is more complicated than ever.

ExactSource, a national leader in the delivery of talent management solutions and software to engineering firms, has announced they will exhibit and present at the upcoming American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)Annual Convention and Legislative Summit.

The conference, which is the first of two major conventions ACEC sponsors each year, will take place April 19-22, 2015 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington DC. The conference gives ACEC members an opportunity to acquire information and collaborate on issues that affect the engineering industry through educational and social forums, plus meetings and visits to Capitol Hill.

Katy Young, ExactSource COO, and Sarah Walpert, Ingenium CMO, will be conducting an educational session at the conference entitled "Bridging Generational Communication Differences for Improved Business Effectiveness.”

Young and Walpert will present on the communication differences in the workplace among different generations and will interview a panel representing the four generations currently in the workplace: Millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers, and the Silent Generation. The session will work through the differing communication styles and provide solutions for A/E/C firms to adopt in an effort to improve productivity among all employees.

“We’re in a unique situation in the A/EC industry in which there are 4 different generations in the workforce." said Walpert, “With Millennials entering leadership roles while the Baby Boomers and Silent Generation delay retirement - communication in the workplace is more complicated than ever.”

Ms. Young adds, “Communication in the workplace is key, but determining HOW to communicate with your co-workers is complicated, especially because preference differs based on many factors, including age. We’ll discuss how professionals should communicate when there is a difference of preference."

Conference attendees will also be able to visit the ExactSource + Ingenium booth at the exhibit hall to learn about ExactSource's recruiting, research, and proprietary software solutions, as well as their sister company, Ingenium. Ingenium, launched in August 2014, is a marketing and branding agency specifically serving professional services firms to meet marketing needs at every level, from idea to execution.
