V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, today announced that its groundbreaking PERSEUS® technology, has been honoured by NewBay Media with an ‘NAB 2015 Best of Show: TV Technology’ award.

The ‘Best of Show’ awards recognise a select group of industry-leading products exhibited at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, Las Vegas (NV), during the 2015 NAB Show, 11-16 April. The award comes at V-Nova’s highly successful NAB Show debut, and just days after the company’s market launch on April 1st following a five-year period of stealth development.

“We are so pleased that our technology and vision has been recognised so early after our launch. We saw that end-user demand for high-quality video across platforms, applications and sectors was increasing exponentially, and we developed PERSEUS to address the problems affecting its delivery and to shift the entire bitrate-quality curve toward the mass population – offering UHD quality at HD bitrates, HD at SD bitrates, and SD video at audio bitrates,” said Guido Meardi, CEO & Co-Founder, V-Nova. “This award recognises both the outstanding performance of the technology and the important work over the last few years to ensure it was available as a broadcast-grade product ready to deploy.”

PERSEUS makes 4K commercially viable at scale, enables HD over 3G/4G mobile networks and makes video available to millions who do not yet have it. Crucially, it achieves this within currently available bandwidth and infrastructure, guaranteeing rapid and seamless deployment and an extremely high return on investment for V-Nova's partners and customers as it allows them to differentiate their products, increase market penetration, and offer new services.

PERSEUS was developed and tested over the past five years within a consortium of over 20 global industry leaders including Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), Intel, Sky Italia, Broadcom and Encompass. PERSEUS is currently offered in the form of appliances, embedded software and codec plug-ins.

“This award is testament to the talent and dedication of our team at V-Nova, who have worked tirelessly to develop and bring this technology to market,” said Eric Achtmann, Executive Chairman & co-Founder, V-Nova. “We are proud to be part of an impressive global consortium, which shares a common mission to improve human and machine communications. We thank all of our partners for their contributions to V-Nova’s early success and the achievement of this award.”
