The Lodge at Sea Island in the United States and Casa Palopó in Guatemala

The additions include Casa Palopó in Guatemala, the second Central American property following the introduction of El Silencio Lodge & Spa in Costa Rica earlier this year, and The Lodge at Sea Island on Saint Simons Island in Georgia.

Located in the Republic of Guatemala, 90 miles from Guatemala City, Casa Palopó is nestled against 10,000 foot volcanic peaks and surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Atitlan. The newest member of the Relais & Châteaux collection offers first-rate amenities and services including fine dining at the gourmet restaurant, Palopó 6.8, with a comfortable, glamorous atmosphere, overlooking spectacular sunsets and awe inspiring volcanoes. Services offered to guests throughout their stay include professionally guided tours of Lake Atitlan and surrounding Indian villages, market day tours, hiking, horseback riding as well as in-room spa services. The main building at Casa Palopó has 7 rooms, each of them featuring a unique feel, layout, and size. Above the main hotel is a contemporary style villa, with two elegant one-room suites equipped with a large living room, gourmet kitchen, two fireplaces, butler service, and an outside terrace complete with an infinity pool, Jacuzzi and gazebo.

The Lodge at Sea Island, located on Saint Simons Island, Georgia is grand and secluded, perfect for couples, with expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean and emerald fairways of the Sea Island Golf Club. The Lodge features 40 luxurious and spacious rooms and suites and 24-hour butler service. The Lodge is known to be a golfer’s paradise, nestled between Plantation and Seaside, two of Sea Island’s three famed golf courses. The restaurants at The Lodge, Colt & Alison and The Oak Room, both feature world-class dining. Colt & Alison offers a charming and intimate setting for dinner with panoramic views of Plantation Course’s 18th hole. The southern-inspired Oak Room features leather ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the St. Simons Sound.

The addition of Casa Palopó and The Lodge at Sea Island brings the total number of Relais & Châteaux properties in the Unites States, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America to over 85 hotel and restaurant members.
