Over 450 Parish Leaders Attend Amazing Parish Conference
Denver, CO (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- The April 21-22 Amazing Parish conference drew over 450 participants to the two-day event and was filled to capacity. The participants heard from nationally known Catholic speakers how to create dynamic parishes focused on Evangelization and Discipleship.
“We are seeing a tremendous hunger among pastors and parish leaders from across the United States,” said author Pat Lencioni, who helped organize the conference and provided one of the keynotes. “Our goal is to build a national movement so that every parish that wants to be amazing will know there is a community of other parishes who want the same thing."
Conference participants came from 98 parishes as well as 10 non-parish church organizations. Parishes were required to bring a team of 3-5 leaders, including their pastor. These parish teams participated in interactive exercises to help them identify a vision and plan for creating an amazing parish.
The conference featured Fr. James Mallon (author of Divine Renovation: Moving Your Parish from Maintenance to Mission), Jeff Cavins (creator of The Great Adventure Catholic Bible Study), Lisa Brenninkmeyer (founder of Walking with Purpose, a Catholic Women’s Bible study program), Curtis Martin (President and Founder of FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students), Sr. Regina Marie Gorman (Vicar General of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart), Matt Manion (President of the Catholic Leadership Institute), Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran (authors of Rebuilt: Awakening the Faithful, Reaching the Lost, and Making Church Matter). Attendees were also treated to a concert by Grammy-nominated recording artist Matt Maher.
This is the third Amazing Parish conference. The first was held in Denver in August 2014 and the second was a one-day conference held in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, TX. Over 1300 participants from more than 250 parishes have now participated in the three conferences. A fourth Amazing Parish conference will be held in Denver August 11-12, 2015.
