Kaplan Early Learning Company, a leading international provider of products and services that enhance children’s learning, announced today that it will offer an exclusive, web-based assessment as part of a new partnership with Conscious Discipline and the Devereux Center for Resilient Children.

The Conscious Discipline & eDECA Assessment and Planning System will allow early childhood professionals and families to screen, assess and promote protective factors associated with the resilience and healthy social and emotional development of preschoolers between 3 and 5 years old.

“This comprehensive assessment and planning system will utilize strategies promoted by both Conscious Discipline and Devereux,” says Susan Damico, Assistant Director of the Devereux Center for Resilient Children. “It will support caregivers in building children’s initiative, creating strong attachments, developing self-regulation skills and reducing problem behaviors in a way that’s unlike other assessment tools.”

The Conscious Discipline & eDECA Assessment and Planning System will also be used to evaluate the impact of Conscious Discipline programs and to ensure that children have the strengths and skills necessary to reach their highest potential.

“This will assess children’s social and emotional health and resilience, but it will also monitor progress in the classroom and offer Conscious Discipline-aligned strategies to promote resilience,” says Renee Whittington, Director of Product Development at Conscious Discipline. “It will be a true assessment and planning solution for the classroom.”

Following an official product release on May 15, 2015, the Conscious Discipline & eDECA Assessment and Planning System will be available for purchase through Conscious Discipline and Kaplan Early Learning Company, its exclusive distribution partners.

“The Devereux Center for Resilient Children is a long-time leader in early assessment and social and emotional learning,” says Evan Goldman, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Kaplan Early Learning Company. “Conscious Discipline has a long-standing history of creating solutions that support the social and emotional needs of young children. The fact that these two industry leaders are teaming up is what makes this new product and the potential benefits for young children so exciting!”
