US-based social startup aims to bring social mapping to sports by officially launching a new iPhone app that allows sports fans to use GPS technology to meet friends, discover social events and more.

Paranoid Fan Mapping System

Paranoid Fan founder, Agustin Gonzalez, on the launch: “We are going to absolutely change how fans interact with each other at sporting events. This is a game changer for the sports fan.”

It’s a long-standing problem that sports fans are disconnected from social activities and venue staples on gameday. Using the Paranoid Fan social map (snapshot below), fans can identify fellow fans, find watching parties, tailgates, make new friends and locate other sports essentials such as parking, tickets, food, drinks and more. Data on the map is crowdsourced by users, allowing up-to-the-minute updates and the most accurate information possible. Fans can chat with each other using the app geofencing system.

The team will be officially launching the app at The Next Web Conference in Europe this week. Currently, the application is available for free in iTunes. Release for Android is slated for mid-summer 2015.
