Cedar Grove Elementary Wins Grand Championship at SAE International’s 9th Annual AWIM International JetToy Competition

Cedar Grove Elementary’s Team 6 placed in every category and was named grand champion of the 9th Annual A World In Motion® (AWIM) International JetToy Competition, which was held Wednesday at the SAE 2015 World Congress.

Cedar Grove Elementary’s Team 6 placed in every category and was named grand champion of the 9th Annual A World In Motion® (AWIM) International JetToy Competition, which was held Wednesday at the SAE 2015 World Congress.

The team from Cedar Grove won the accuracy and time categories and placed second in the distance and weight categories en route to the championship.

In the JetToy Challenge, Engineering Design Teams of four students compete in distance, accuracy, weight carrying and timed events. This year’s competition was sponsored by Johnson Controls, Bosch, Kia, TRW, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Honda and Henkel.

The award-winners were:

Grand Champion

  • Cedar Grove Team 6

Distance

  • 1st place – Gompers Elementary – Team 94
  • 2nd place – Cedar Grove Team 6
  • 3rd place – Chastain Road Team 3

Weight

  • 1st place – St. Edith Team 99
  • 2nd place – Cedar Grove Team 6
  • 3rd place – Forest Acres Team 5

Time

  • 1st place – Cedar Grove Team 6
  • 2nd place – St. Michael Team 21
  • 3rd place – Chastain Road Team 3

Accuracy

  • 1st place – Cedar Grove Team 6
  • 2nd place – Ethel Kight Team
  • 3rd place - Cooper Upper Elementary Team 12
