SMA's Women’s Health Conference Features Opioid Prescribing Education Workshop
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) April 27, 2015 -- Southern Medical Association (SMA) will hold its accredited CME conference entitled, Focus on the Female Patient, July 20-23, 2015 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, a barrier island near Charleston, South Carolina. The 4-day conference offers physicians and healthcare professionals the opportunity for intensive study of women’s health including diagnosis and management guidelines, and new and controversial therapies of common diseases in women with an emphasis on practical, clinical knowledge.
New this year, is a 3-hour workshop on The SCOPE of Pain: Safe and Competent Opioid Prescribing Education. The workshop will be held on Monday, July 20 from 2:00-5:00 pm and attendance is included in the conference fee. The program is designed to help healthcare professionals manage patients with chronic pain, when appropriate, with opioid analgesics.
The Focus on the Female Patient conference is chaired by Veronica K. Piziak, MD, PhD, FACP, Emeritus Director, Division of Endocrinology and Director of Scott & White’s Diabetes Center in Temple, Texas and Mark G. Martens, MD, FACOG, NCMP, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center (Neptune) and Clinical Professor and Vice-Chair at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
