Commercial Real Estate Icon, Gerald D. Hines Honored as the 2015 Howard Horne Legacy Award Recipient.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- NAIOP Houston, a chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, honored Gerald D. Hines, Founder and Chairman of Hines, as the 2015 Howard Horne Legacy Award recipient at a luncheon held on Friday, April 24, 2015. Mr. Hines is the third recipient of the distinguished award that recognizes a pillar within the commercial real estate industry who has not only helped shape the City of Houston, but also the industry as a whole. Chairman of Howard Horne Legacy Committee, John Duffie stated, “When evaluating recipients, we seek someone who personifies Howard’s legacy – A renowned individual committed to our profession who has framed the future of our industry. Gerald Hines was the clear choice for this year’s honor.”
The luncheon included past legacy award recipients Dan Bellow and Robert Duncan, who along with Hines discussed their experiences with Howard Horne and the evolution of commercial real estate industry. “To have all three Howard Horne Award recipients on one stage is a historical moment for NAIOP Houston,” stated Chapter President, Don Janssen. “These individuals have transformed our industry and paved the path for future generations.”
Mr. Hines has dedicated much of his time to improving the landscape of the industry and is a proud member of the community, exhibiting a commitment to its progress. Among his proudest accomplishments are the support of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston and the establishment of the ULI/Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition. In receiving this award Mr. Hines stated “I am honored to receive this award from NAIOP, and doubly so, since it celebrates Howard Horne, who was a key partner in One Shell Plaza in Houston.”
