Thomopulos Appointed to Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure Board
MUSCATINE, IOWA (PRWEB) May 04, 2015 -- The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) has appointed Gregs G. Thomopulos, P.E., Chairman of Stanley Consultants, to the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) board of directors for a three-year term.
ACEC co-established ISI with the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). A non-profit group, ISI developed and maintains a sustainability rating system for civil infrastructure called Envision. Launched in 2012, the Envision rating system provides a holistic framework for horizontal infrastructure planners, designers, and builders to incorporate sustainability.
Thomopulos is Chairman of Stanley Consultants, a global consulting engineering firm with offices worldwide. He began his career with the company in 1966 and over his nearly 50-year career has held multiple management positions including Senior Vice President, head of the International Division, President, and Chief Executive Officer. He was elected Chairman of the Board in 2007.
Very active in the engineering community, throughout his career Thomopulos has served on and led multiple boards including the American Council of Engineering Companies; the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC); the University of Iowa College of Engineering; the Iowa Institute of Hydraulics Research; the University of Kansas School of Engineering; and the International Center for Water Resources at Central State University. He was a member of the 2006-07 U.S. Department of State Overseas Building Operations Industry Advisory Panel.
He is a Fellow of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); and a member of the Iowa Engineering Society and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
