Adolfson & Peterson Completes New Recreation and Senior Center in Grapevine
Richardson, TX (PRWEB) April 25, 2015 -- On Saturday morning, April 25, a Grand Opening ceremony was held for a new multi-generational recreation and senior center in Grapevine, known as The REC. The REC, which stands for Recreation-Education-Community, includes a 60,000 SF addition to the Community Activities Center built in 1996.
Adolfson & Peterson Construction (A&P) served as the construction manager on this landmark project for the City of Grapevine, which includes the first indoor aquatics facility for the City. Barker Rinker Seacat served as the architect.
The project is located at 1175 Municipal Way and combines the new 60,000 SF addition with a complete renovation and upgrade to the existing CAC facility, resulting in a best-in-class 108,000 SF REC facility. The new multi-generational facility includes a senior activities area, indoor aquatics, multi-purpose rooms, basketball courts, racquetball courts, an expanded fitness area, a dining hall, and a central utility plant.
“The teamwork, heart and dedication that was a part of this project was amazing,” said Kevin Mitchell, Grapevine’s Director of Park and Recreation. “This was not just another job to this team; they ate slept and breathed Grapevine.”
“This community is about heart – a lot of heart – and that’s what it took to build this project,” said Corbett Nichter A&P’s Senior Vice President.” Corbett, who is also a Grapevine resident, added: “We build these buildings all across the country, and this is one of the finest. The City was wonderful to work with and displayed a firm commitment throughout the project which was crucial to make this job possible.”
Construction began in April 2014 and was completed on an accelerated schedule.
