Smart Insights publishes a new White Paper “mHealth market in the US at a glance”
Marseille, France (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- Intelling is pleased to announce that in connection with CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA, it publishes a new Smart Insights White Paper covering the mHealth market in the USA. The White Paper covers all segments of the mHealth market in the USA.
mHealth solutions include numerous technological solutions, focusing mainly on the measurement of vital signs and health parameters, such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose level, brain activities and body temperature. mHealth is an emerging and rapidly developing field which has the potential to disrupt healthcare systems, either by delivering incremental innovations that improve existing practices, or by bringing fundamental changes that modify the way healthcare services are supplied. Mobile devices and mobile apps collect a considerable amount of information (medical, physiological, lifestyle, daily activity and environmental data), which can now be used for evidence-driven care practice and research activities, benefiting every player in the healthcare system.
In the US, only medical devices that are thought to pose some patient risks are subject to regulation. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a “Guidance on Mobile Medical Applications” to inform app manufacturers and distributors about how it intends to apply its regulatory authority to apps intended for use on mobile platforms. The most recent update of this document was done on February 9, 2015. The FDA approach calls for oversight of only those mobile apps that are medical devices and whose functionality could pose a risk to a patients' safety if the app does not function as intended.
Although mHealth is an emerging market, some solutions have gained traction in the US. The country presents more favorable conditions than other markets, such as openness to innovation, less regulated environment and more importantly the healthcare market is dominated by private healthcare insurances. The latter are willing to reduce costs and increase effectiveness of their systems. mHealth is a gold opportunity to achieve efficiency.
All of this, and a lot more, is described in Smart Insights White Paper “mHealth market in the US at a glance”. The White Paper can be downloaded free of charge from our website at http://www.smartinsights.net/White-papers
