Over the years, the popularity of all-natural and health food products has skyrocketed, along with an emphasis on gluten-free and preservative-free diets. This has led to growth in fruit-based consumer products. An upcoming segment of "In America", hosted by renowned actor James Earl Jones, will examine these heralded products that range from fruit juices, freeze-dried fruits, jellies and preserves to fruit powders, chips, purees, and smoothies. The segment will discuss the growth of this market into a multi-billion dollar industry
While today's consumers may be well acquainted with fruit juice products and the required percentages that determine whether a bottle contains an all-fruit product, the new program will go into further detail regarding the wide variety of products available, and how some of them may not necessarily be "all-natural". The program explores the topic from all angles and seeks to answer questions the average shopper may have.
"In America" is produced independently of PBS and APT. It is not affiliated with either network. Segments of the show are distributed to Public Television stations to be aired at their sole discretion.
