“Our business is helping people with construction, restoration and repairs from storm events. Giving back to the community and helping people in need is very important to us.” says Steve Shanton, CEO and founder of Venture Construction Group.

Venture Construction Group sponsors the 25th Annual Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure® on May 10, 2015. The event kicks off with a cancer survivor celebration and parade at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 6:30 a.m. The Race for the Cure 5k run/walk begins at 8 a.m. In addition to the corporate event sponsorship, Venture Construction Group CEO Steve Shanton, staff, construction crew and family are participating in the event and raising monies to donate to Komen Philadelphia.

“As a race supporter, Venture Construction Group is making a tremendous impact on saving lives in our community, supporting survivors and giving researchers the power to develop more effective treatments,” says Jeannine Donahue, survivor and outreach program coordinator at Susan G. Komen for the Cure Philadelphia.

According to Komen Philadelphia, the success of the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure® is driven by sponsor generosity and community support to set the pace to continue to empower men, women and children in the fight against breast cancer. Celebrating their 25th year, Komen Philadelphia is celebrating on Mother’s Day in 15 counties throughout Pennsylvania. Their campaign goal is to raise $2.5 million dollars to support breast cancer research. Over 7.4 million people depend on Komen Philadelphia to empower their personal victories over breast cancer.

“Our business is helping people with construction, restoration and repairs from storm events. Giving back to the community and helping people in need is very important to us.” says Steve Shanton, CEO and founder of Venture Construction Group.

Venture Construction Group is headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and the company sponsors a variety of charities annually. In addition to providing construction, renovation and restoration services nationwide, Venture Construction Group helps property owners recover quickly after storm events such as hail, tornadoes, hurricanes, wind, fire and flood. Giving back to philanthropic charities and helping others is an integral part of the company’s mission.

“I’m an 8-year survivor, and now work with Komen to do outreach, education, and programs. For a survivor, these events are the ultimate form of support we can get. It’s a very emotional day on all levels. There are a lot of tears, both happy and sad. Survivors are happy to be healthy and supported by the community. That’s another big piece of these events, the community support,” says Donahue.

Komen Philadelphia designates 25 percent of funds towards research. The remainder of funds raised by the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure is invested locally. In addition, funds support many Komen Philadelphia initiatives designed to meet the specific needs of a diversity of groups, communities and initiatives. In the 2014-2015 year, Komen Philadelphia is distributing more than $1.1 million to twelve organizations in Pennsylvania. Learn more & register now at KomenPhiladelphia.org/Race.
