Long Time Houston Business to Celebrate 60 Years in the Apparel Industry

The company has been in business designing handmade baby gowns and infant apparel for many decades. The 60th Year Anniversary celebration will focus on preview shows and customer appreciation. The company will debut new items at fashion shows during the upcoming summer markets and concentrate on giving long-time customers a chance to share their story of the role that Paty has played in their lives over the years. "The summer apparel and gift trade shows in Dallas and Atlanta will be the focal point of the celebrations. We will celebrate by conducting a fashion show, customer appreciation events, and product launches. We want to recognize our retailers; specifically, some that have been with us since the early years,” said Derrick and Caren Veillon, the proud owners of Paty, Inc.
Paty, Inc. has a rich history that began in 1955. Ruth and Faride Abugattas began crafting their one of a kind infant garments in a small garage in Lima, Peru. The small business that started in Peru evolved into the celebrated Paty, Inc. that is the leader in American-made high-quality infant apparel. They specialize in infant layette gowns, rompers, and newborn sets. They are also well known for their Signature Paty Knit fabric which is still manufactured in Houston. In 1970, the Abugattas family moved their operation to the United States. They bought knitting machines and sewing machines from Germany and Italy, and they secured a manufacturing facility for their apparel company. After creating handmade garments for over 50 years, the Abugattas’ retired and transitioned the business to the next generation.
The Veillons are the current owners of Paty Inc., and they have continued manufacturing the Paty Signature Knits while adding new lines and trendy modern fabrics. In celebration of their 60th Year Anniversary, they will add even more items to Paty’s Pima Collection, which is a tribute to the company’s Peruvian legacy. “Throughout 2015, we will continue to have our biggest roll out of new items. We are adding new fabric combinations, materials, and designs. We’re also launching a new toddler collection which will include sizes 2T to 5T. For years, we’ve had requests to make larger sizes, so we are excited to finally be able to enter this market," according to Derrick Veillon.
