The survey, which takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete, asks a series of questions related to business practices, marketing practices, snow removal software usage and business results.
The company plans to release their third annual Snow Industry Benchmark Report at the Snow and Ice Management Association (SIMA) Symposium in Schaumburg, IL, in June. The benchmark report is designed to help snow removal businesses better understand how they compare to their competitors and take steps to be more competitive.
“Many snow removal business owners exist on an island,” explains HindSite’s Marketing Manager, Chad Reinholz. “They don’t have an opportunity to talk to non-competing peers to see what they’re doing to grow and improve their businesses.”
Last year’s report included a number of interesting findings, including:
- Nearly half of respondents saw their revenue increase by more than 20% during the 2013-14 snow season
- Snow providers had healthy margins, with 43% experiencing margins in excess of 30%
- Competition ranged from medium to high in most markets
- Sales and marketing was the business function most in need of improvement according to respondents
