Oklahoma Mother, Deb Stanaland, Honored in Washington as “National Mother of the Year”
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 29, 2015 -- At their annual 80th Annual Conference in Washington DC this weekend, Deb Stanaland, the Chief Support Services Officer for YWCA Oklahoma City, was named “National Mother of the Year,” by American Mothers, Inc.®, a national non-profit dedicated to honoring and supporting mothers around the world.
“We could not be more proud to honor Deb Stanaland as the 2015 ‘National Mother of the Year.’ She has not only been a great leader for women and families in Oklahoma, but she’s a role model for mothers across our country,” said Joan Braitsch, American Mothers national president.
In addition to awarding their annual “National Mother of the Year” award, American Mothers’ annual conference offered attendees, primarily mothers from across the world, three days of education, inspiration and networking. It culminated on Saturday evening with the American Mothers Gala, during which the 2015 National Mother of the Year® and 2015 National Young Mother of the Year were announced.
The theme of the 2015 conference was “Mothers Eyes on the World,” reflective of American Mothers’ focus on issues facing women worldwide, including human trafficking and domestic abuse. The American Mothers National Conference has been held annually since 1935, when Sarah Delano Roosevelt presented Lucy Keen Johnson from Georgia as the first American Mother of the Year.
“There’s never been a more important time for mothers to connect to learn and celebrate motherhood, and our 80th annual conference this year was our best ever,” Joan Braitsch concluded.
