It's especially appropriate for Phlashmob to use crowdfunding, as we will crowdfund in reverse by paying teachers for our study content.

Phlashmob is a new, mobile learning system that enables students and teachers to engage in a dynamic learning experience called “ThinkAgain”

"The company’s unique crowdfunding campaign allows individuals to support the collaborative vision of Phlashmob, as the money raised will be used to pay teachers to write study questions for its ThinkAgain product,” says CEO Norm Kur. “Founders, family and friends have made the substantial investment to build the system, so Kickstarter supporters know their contributions will go towards teachers writing great study questions.”

“The ThinkAgain question-and-answer format helps students connect questions with underlying concepts,” says Kur. “Our approach to educational technology is based on the simple idea that thinking again about a problem fosters better learning than just being told if one is right or wrong. In the ThinkAgain study mode, students are provided additional information before getting the chance to reconsider their original answers. We believe ThinkAgain is an engaging process for student learning and one we believe will help improve student outcomes,” he adds.

“Teachers are key to building the Phlashmob system,” says Norman Franklin, VP. “Their genuine grasp of the subject and their commitment to student learning is key. That is why we consider teachers our team members and compensate them for their work. It's especially appropriate for Phlashmob to use crowdfunding, as we will crowdfund in reverse by paying teachers for our study content."

According to Kur and Franklin, the motivation behind Phlashmob is to create a better study system that easily adapts to today’s lifestyles. “Regardless of any educational technology,” they point out, “study is the common denominator for all academic and career success. Our unique question format allows students to think again in order to gain subject competency, and then use the same system in test conditions to prepare for exams.”

The ThinkAgain app generates study and test condition quizzes based on details that the student selects, and a personal scoreboard tracks all results by topic, proficiency and study effort. The Phlashmob study system works with virtually all curriculum choices, textbooks and instructional styles, fitting seamlessly into the lives of today’s students and teachers.

The name Phlashmob is a variation of the word “flashmob” in which many people come together for a common purpose. Kur and Franklin see Phlashmob as an opportunity for many teachers and subject experts to come together to improve academic and career success for millions of students. “We believe Phlashmob adds a dynamic new process to the age-old need to study in order to succeed. Phlashmob is dedicated to continually developing the very best study tools for students of all ages.”
