Clear Comfort Receives UL 1563 Certification for Pool Treatment System

NSF International has completed the electrical safety certification of Clear Comfort’s pool sanitation systems.

NSF’s certification to UL 1563 for spas and swimming pools verifies compliance with Article 680 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, which establishes appropriate electrical performance and safety requirements. This major milestone for this novel technology further validates the system and its applicability to pools and spas.

"Clear Comfort is excited by the validation and assurance that this certification provides to our customers," said Steve Berens, CEO of Clear Comfort. “When combined with the strong and passionate response from swimmers, who no longer suffer the ill effects from over chlorinated pools, the certification provides the electrical safety assurance required for complete peace of mind.”

"The NSF is pleased to announce Clear Comfort’s compliance with the UL electrical safety standards." said Dave Purkiss,General Manager Municipal Water Products Division. “NSF International is dedicated to being the leading global provider of public health and safety-based risk management solutions while serving the interests of all stakeholders, namely the public, the business community and government agencies.”

The NSF UL 1563 requirements, as stated in the UL Standards scope, apply to self-contained spas and field-installed equipment assemblies, blowers, and controls for use with field-installed hot tubs, swimming pools, and non-self-contained spas. These products are for household or commercial use, indoors, outdoors, or both. All equipment is intended for installation and use in accordance with Article 680 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. These requirements also apply to field-installed accessories that have been investigated with the basic product.

NSF is accredited as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and as a certification organization by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for numerous product standards.
