Teaming up with Sharefest each year has allowed us the opportunity to give back to our local communities. We are proud of our partnership and are glad to donate our time and resources to the annual Workday event as we believe in Sharefest’s mission.
Torrance, Ca (PRWEB) April 29, 2015
For the past few years, Southern California-based wholesale nursery, T-Y Nursery has donated plants to the non-profit Sharefest’s Annual Workday. These plants have been installed in local high schools in the Harbor Gateway and South Bay communities. This year, in addition to their generous donation, T-Y Nursery will be taking on the beautification of West High’s Administrative Atrium. Ten T-Y Nursery team members will be working on site alongside Sunflower Farm’s Wendy Akiyama on May 2, 2015.

About Sunflower Farm
Sunflower Farms is a four-acre nursery and landscape company located in Torrance, California. It was established in 1975 as a wholesale plant grower by Ron Akiyama and his father Tom Akiyama. Today, it’s a thriving retail establishment.
About Wendy Akiyama
Wife of Sunflower Farms founder, Ron Akiyama, Wendy is a native Hawaiian who fell into the nursery business by association. Immersed in her career as a Business Sales Rep for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, she vowed never to work in her husband’s nursery. That all changed when she became a full-time mother of three when she was subsequently reconnected with her lifelong love of art, nature. It was then she was drawn to the nursery where she would help Ron create the beautiful meandering gardens of Sunflower Farms.
Today, she designs and installs those garden dreams for her clients by doing what she loves best: getting to know people, helping them accomplish more than they hoped for while making friends in the process.
Torrance-based Sharefest Community Development is public benefit 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with a vision to create an imprint of lasting positive change in our community through mentoring youth, fostering volunteerism in the community through service projects, and establishing working coalitions made up of city leaders, schools, businesses and the faith community. http://www.sharefestinc.org
