Revolve Robotics, a leading innovator in robotic telepresence, today announced this year’s American Telemedicine Association conference and tradeshow, May 2nd to 5th in Los Angeles, California, will be a showcase for how straightforward it is for telehealth applications to integrate with its breakthrough Kubi; an award-winning robotic telepresence platform that serves as a revolutionary solution for telemedicine. In booth #2226, Kubi will demonstrate integration with some of the leading technology solutions, including GeriJoy, JACO, Plantronics, swyMed, and Vidyo.
“Our goal is to partner with multiple telepresence applications in order to create new, augmented solutions,” said Marcus Rosenthal, Revolve Robotics’ co-founder and CEO. “Given the diverse formats of the many telemedicine solutions available today, we intentionally designed Kubi to be an easy integration platform for the healthcare industry. By pairing Kubi with other technologies, telemedicine applications become more engaging for patients and healthcare providers."
Kubi, which users can experience right now by directing their Chrome or Firefox browser to this Live Kubi Demo, leverages the conferencing capabilities of today’s tablets by introducing a robotic platform or cradle on which the tablet sits. The resulting telepresence robot is then “driven” by the remote video-conferencing participant. Kubi thus turns passive video conferencing callers into active participants, as remote callers use Kubi to “look around” the room and actively engage with meeting participants.
Now, the telemedicine industry can take advantage of this advancement in telepresence. At ATA, Revolve Robotics will showcase Kubi in conjunction with the following technologies:
GeriJoy delivers a captivating care avatar to provide 24x7 engagement, wellness coaching, and reporting to ensure the highest quality care and to keep people out of the hospital. With a Kubi remote controlled by a clinician, the joint solution delivers even more engagement.
JACO, a leading manufacturer of mobile computer carts for the healthcare industry, The joint solution from JACO and Revolve enables healthcare organizations to bring powerful, engaging telepresence anywhere it may be needed within an organization’s campus. With myriad form factors sure to meet the needs of the most specific application, JACO has created the ideal mobile platform for Kubi in the form of its Kubi carts. These carts can deliver interactive video collaboration anywhere on site. It is ideal for quarantine situations, remote contact between the patient and his or her family, clinician-to-clinician contact, or clinician-to-interpreter contact.
Plantronics, a global leader in audio communications and pioneer in wearable technology used sensor fusion capabilities within its award-winning headset to essentially track where the user’s head is at any given time. By delivering this information to the Kubi via WebRTC, the remote physician simply has to look at something in the remote environment to have the Kubi respond automatically by looking at that location as well. This enables the headset wearer to concentrate on the patient and/or the task at hand instead of using their keyboard or mouse to “look around” their remote environment.
swyMed is the first purpose-built medical video client designed to operate under the most difficult circumstances within the healthcare setting. swyMed is optimized to run in low network bandwidth settings and still deliver high-quality video for accurate diagnoses and patient trust, with intuitive control for medical personnel and EHR integration that allows adding notes and screenshots directly during a session. It works with 3G/4G networks, in ambulances, remote/rural areas, and across every department of hospitals and physician clinics. Combined with the Kubi, this gives providers even more flexibility in examining patients under challenging circumstances, especially combined with a cart in the hospital or on its own for chronic care home use.
Vidyo’s VidyoWorksTM platform allows integration of scalable video conferencing, collaboration solutions, and cloud-based services over public networks at a price comparable to audio conferencing. Vidyo enables engaging solutions that hospitals, research centers and physician clinics can use to visually connect their patients with healthcare professionals for everything from routine checkups and home health services to telestroke assessments and surgical consults.
“Pairing Vidyo and Kubi will create new experiences in telemedicine delivery on mobile devices. The combination of Vidyo’s high performance, secure multi-party video communication and Kubi’s remote tilt, pan and control features can facilitate telemedicine consultations with more active engagement from patients and caregivers using off-the-shelf mobile form factors.” said Mark Noble, Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Vidyo.
