2015 Winners Announced in 5th Annual Lip Dub Contest Sponsored by GCF
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- Goodwill Community Foundation (GCF) sponsored the fifth annual Lip Dub Project for area high schools to support communities across Eastern North Carolina. Out of 22 high school entries, Massey Hill Classical High School was named the Grand Prize Winner and received a check for $10,000 from Fox50. Their video featured students lip-syncing to TLC’s song “What About Your Friends” and communicated a message of friendship and community.
Each submission was required to be filmed in one continuous take. Rules dictated that the video had to be student-produced without any assistance from teachers, faculty, or parents. There was no editing allowed apart from adding music in the final video. Voting was open to the public and began in February.. Massey Hill, with a 300-student population, worked tirelessly to encourage their community to participate in the voting process and to secure their win.
“The Lip Dub Project is a great way to promote healthy competition and encourage students to express themselves and their creativity through work with their peers,” says Rev Dennis McLain, GCF president. “GCF believes that our mission, creating opportunities for a better life, is best achieved when a community works together toward a common goal, whatever that goal may be.”
Cape Fear High School of Fayetteville, NC was named first runner up and received $5,000. Gray’s Creek High School of Hope Mills, NC was the second runner-up and won $2,500. More than two million votes were cast on the website and through the Lip Dub app, which was available on the App StoreTM and Google PlayTM.
